Women's Business Center Boosts Entrepreneurs

PORTSMOUTH — With the economy stalled, more women are jump-starting their financial futures by starting businesses.
The trend is no surprise to entrepreneur and event co-chairwoman Julie Vogt.
"As women are being laid off, they pick up the gauntlet," said Vogt, president and chief executive officer of the network engineering firm Integrisys and a WBC board member. "They say 'now is the time I'm going to start that business I've been thinking about.'"
Marcia Griffith, an independent consultant for skin care product manufacturerRodan and Fields Dermatologists, sought both. "It's a relatively new company that's expanding rapidly on a national level," Griffith said. "I'm looking for local leaders."
